Maximising your power score: the secret to better performance and post workout happiness

Often, we come out of a workout disappointed because the Row output showed -3.4%, Chest Press -7.0%, Pull Down -12.5%, and your all the times most favourite overhead Press -17.9%. Why is that so? And why appreciating the feeling even more than the numbers is so powerful? As the year is coming to an end, it's time to get cozy, relax, and zoom out for that more complete view, reflect, connect the dots, experience a few aha! moments. Become aware and appreciate the experiences that no power score on the screen could ever capture. Discover the richness that goes beyond the numbers – the richness of the felt experience of those 20 minutes every week trying to increase your strength.

Op-Ed: The role of your genes in muscle & strength gains

I want to look like a swimmer, so I will go swimming. I want to look like Christiano Ronaldo, so I go and play soccer. I want to look like a runway model, so I walk the runway. The last one makes no sense, right? So why should the other two examples be any different? Humans love these straight forward heuristics. That's because our brain loves simple cause and effect relationships that don´t require thinking hard and in turn, don´t burn a lot of energy. Kahneman & Tversky received the Nobel Prize for that observation. Learn here why we suffer these cognitive biases when we think about fitness as well and how our genes determine our results from strength training.

Op-Ed: Why wearables are not worth your money

Wearables wear off extremely fast. Dad joke, I know, sorry it´s because I will be one in January. I have card blanche now. But seriously, how many of you have a Fitbit or other wearable fitness, activity or health tracker? Most likely it sets dust in the corner after the initial excitement. If you are not a professional athlete or biohacker, wearables are simply not worth your money. Let's explore why.
